Notefix docs
Notefix puts notes on a running web page, stuck to the exact thing they are about. Point at what is wrong, say why, and the note stays there for everyone who opens the page next.
How it fits together#
Notefix is three pieces. You only need the first to start; add the others when you want them.
| Piece | What it does | Where it runs |
|---|---|---|
| The layer | The toolbar, pins, drawings and the list of notes | In the browser, on your page |
| The store | Keeps notes so everyone sees the same ones | On your server, next to your site |
| Connectors | File notes in your tracker, and send Slack or email | On your server, next to the store |
With only the layer, notes are kept in your own browser. That is useful for a pass on your own, and it needs no server at all.
What it is not#
- Not a design tool. It reviews real, running pages, not design files.
- Not a bug tracker. It feeds the tracker you already use.
- Not a design tool, twice over. It reviews the page people actually get, on a desk or on a phone, where the toolbar moves to the bottom of the screen.
Notefix is not released yet. It launches two ways on the same day: Notefix Cloud, hosted by BBASHI in Switzerland, and Self-hosted, the same server on yours. Both have accounts, a dashboard and one-click connections: start with Get started with Notefix Cloud or Run your own Notefix server. The pages under Setting up and Connections after those describe running the store without accounts, with connectors configured by hand.
